Since post on my Page, most of the feedback are it is a post war item, but ‘Stefan Haüser’ said it is not the case, but he shut down his site “Die Nachrichtentruppe.de”.

For several years you have seen again and again that this travel coffee grinder is offered as a former Wehrmacht grinder. There are even claims that every German soldier in WWII was equipped with this grinder. First of all, this is definitely NOT correct.

This myth arose through the book “The Infantryman of the German Army” by the author Agustin Sáiz, who incorrectly depicted this grinder as “an indispensable tool for a decent coffee in the field” as standard equipment for the German infantryman. Experts are certain, however, that this mill was never part of the standard equipment of German soldiers.

why?

Although this coffee grinder is very small and handy, it would have been just unnecessary ballast, because the German soldiers were supplied by supply companies/field kitchens. In general, the coffee is said to have come to the front only in ground form, never in beans.

Certainly it may be that a few soldiers had a small coffee grinder in their luggage, but these were then taken to the front from private households.
